Wheat prices averaged USD 536 cents per bushel in April, down 2.7% from March. On 30 April, the commodity traded at USD 513 cents per bushel, down 4.5% from 31 March.
Wheat prices eased in April due to an improving supply outlook. Forecasts for rain in key wheat growing regions of the U.S. were the chief driver of the price decline, and followed supply concerns caused by drought in the Midwest. Moreover, crop quality towards the end of the month exceeded market expectations, and crop plantings outpaced their historical average.
